Andrea Creighton One of the most outstanding young sopranos to emerge from New Zealand in recent years, Andrea has quickly become known for her beautiful lyric voice as well as her sensitive musicianship and her sparkling, vivacious stage portrayals. With her dramatic intensity and her command of several languages, she is a communicator of charm and conviction.Andrea was born in New Zealand and trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, UK and the Centre de Formation Lyrique of the Paris Opera. Successful in many competitions, she was the winner of the New Zealand Mobil Song Quest; the Webster Booth/Esso Award in the United Kingdom; Countess of Munster Scholarship winner; Peter Moores Foundation Scholarship winner; the Anne Ziegler/Esso Award for the most promising young singer UK; has been mentored by the Singers Development Foundation, New York; winner of the Opera Prize of the Cercle Carpeaux de L’Opéra National de Paris, and in her final year as a young artist of the Paris Opera – the prestigious Prix d’A.R.O.P for the most outstanding debut performance. Andrea’s concert work includes engagements with L’Orchestre des Jeunes Français, L’Orchestre Pasdeloup, L’Orchestre National de Lyon, the English Camarata Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, the Auckland Chamber Orchestra and the Vector Wellington Orchestra. Talking Heads is delighted that Andrea secured the coveted role of Carlotta in the Really Useful Company’s production of the Phantom of the Opera that has been at the Princess Theatre. |
